The All Progressive Congress APC held its Local Government Congress in Plateau state across the 17 Local Government Areas. The congress in many parts had an arrangement of producing consensus candidates which generally assured the peaceful conduct of the process.
Management Committee Chairman of Riyom LGA Hon Mafeng Gwollson commended the peaceful conduct of the LGA Congress in Riyom held on Saturday 4th September 2021. He said the success recorded across the state is an indication that the party has grown and will do better in the coming elections.
While addressing Journalists, shortly after the inauguration of the newly elected Local Government Exco of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Local Government multipurpose hall in Riyom on Sunday 5th September 2021. He said the race for the offices started with over ten (10) persons indicating interest, however, a constituted committee saddled with the responsibility of sharing positions scientifically distributed the offices across the wards of the LGA.
He stated that during a stakeholder meeting few days before the local government congress, all those who had shown interest in the office of the party chairmanship unanimously agreed to support a consensus candidate for the success of the party.
Hon Gwallson further stated that the success of the congress is also an indication the party will thrive better in coming elections, noting that in 2015 to 2019 the party has strived in growth and further closed the margin between it and other parties which signifies an increase in the political presence and performance of the APC in Riyom Local Government Area.
Hon Ntoy Ngyang Gwong, who emerged as APC Chairman, Riyom LGA, expressed satisfaction with the process that produced him as chairman, noting that he will operate an open-door policy in receiving suggestions and advice in running the affairs of the party.
