The All Progressive Congress APC, today held its Local Government Congresses in Plateau State across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State.
This medium monitored the activities of the APC Congress across 4 Local Government Areas in Plateau state, It was eminent that consensus was the method adopted in most LGAs in selecting a new set of officers who will drive party affairs going forward. However, contests were held in few Local Government areas including Barkin Ladi, Mangu where the Chairmanship position was keenly contested.
It was a happy moment for party stalwarts in Jos North as newly elected officers and key party stakeholders shared pleasantries at the Local Government Secretariat.
While addressing Journalist, the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North LGA Hon Shehu Bala expressed satisfaction with the consensus decision by the party which he said was accepted by all.
It was a similar scene in Jos South Local Government Secretariat as the mood was seen to be satisfactory with Hon Dalyop Pam was returned unopposed as the Chairman of the APC in Jos South LGA after a consensus was also agreed upon.
At Riyom Local Government Area, the atmosphere was totally calm as stakeholders and party stalwarts were seen coordinating the list of the consensus as agreed upon.
However, at Barkin Ladi LGA despite the consensus arrangement for other positions, the Chairmanship position was keenly contested through an open ballot system with delegates in their hundreds lining up and waiting for turns at the Local Government Secretariat.
Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Hon Jok Alamba, said the process was peaceful and the outcome is expected to be received peacefully as delegates were calm and conducting the process in a very civil way.
The general mood at the APC local Government Area Congresses as monitored by this medium was seen to be satisfactory, peaceful and successful.
