Plateau: 23 suspected kidnappers & criminals arrested by OPSH (Video/Photos)

The Special Task Force of Operation Safe Haven, saddled with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in Plateau state has apprehended 23 suspected criminals for various offenses.

 

Parading the suspects at the headquarters of the command on Thursday, Major General Dominic Onyemulu, Commander of the special task force said 17 of the suspects were arrested for kidnapping while others were arrested for armed robbery and possession of illegal firearms.Plateau 23 suspected kidnappers & criminals arrested by OPSH (4)

Detailing the various incidences that led to the arrest of the suspected criminals, the commander OPSH said, some of the suspects comprising 11 from Kaduna state, 4 from Bauchi state, 1 from Kano state and 1 from Plateau state were apprehended on 16th March by the men of the Operation Safe Haven while on a mission to kidnap one Alhaji Gambo Yawuro at his residence in Lishin Village, Jengre, Bassa LGA.

The Items recovered including 7 motorcycles, a fabricated rifle, 2 live cartridges, 13 cutlasses, 3 daggers, 15 cell phones and assorted charms.

 

The Kidnapping gang apprehended include; Mallam Yunusa Sale, Mallam Ibrahim Usman, Mallam Adulahi Ya’u. Mallam Yakubu Buba, Mallam Muhammadu Bello, Mr Azikiwe Ishaya, Mallam Inusa Abubakar, Mallam Idi Audu, Mallam Mahammadu Ishaku, Alhaji Jeji, Mallam Rabiu Adulkadir, Malam Kabiru Adamu, Mallam Adamu Yunusa, Mallam Alhassan Ibrahim, Mallam Umar Bello, Mallam Alhassan Mato and Mallam Bawa Idi.

Furthermore, one Mr. Mohammed Mustapha a suspected member of Sara Suka was arrested at Rikkos with a Fabricated Rifle. Another robbery Syndicate of Mr. Stephen Fehintola, Mr. Micheal David, Mr. Benjamin Babalola and Ibrahim Umar were arrested at Lamingo after a distress call of a robbery operation. Items recovered included a machete and knife when they robbed a lady and threw her out of a moving Tricycle.

 

Similarly, Mr Wisdom Amos Dunyel was apprehended along Lafia-Shendam road with a Harrisburg pistol with registration number 18880 loaded with 7 rounds of ammunition.

Operation Safe Haven said the criminals have all been charged to court after investigation as such it was assuring members of the general public of its determination and commitment towards protecting life and property and all law-abiding citizens across its joint operational areas.
