Following the earlier outburst of Veteran Showbiz Impresario, Seemo Da Black Czar, which he voiced out his dismay on the way Jos-based radio stations continue to treat local talent. (READ HERE)
Versatile OAP with JayFM, Opeyemi Akinyode, has responded to Seemo’s request for radio stations to support artists than collecting money from them.
Opeyemi replied by saying…
To start with, when the song was been produced, was the producer paid, was your graphic designer paid, when you do your videos, do you pay the director, so are these stations running on water or charity?
Let’s get the likes clear, go and ask the top stations in Lagos, go and ask the top OAPs in Lagos if artists don’t pay for promos.
Stations play Jos-based artists songs, but for promo song of the week, am I supposed to also play your song about 49 times a week for free, at choice times.Maybe we need to stop feeling entitled to stuff like this, it’s your career, I shouldn’t be blackmailed into helping you.
My station does a prog every Thursday called The Industry, and JOS-based artists always have mentions and interview slots.
To the writer of this opinion, Mr. Seemo, I’ve seen your video on HIPTV, was it free?
Media houses have bills to pay, they run monthly tiny survivals, so if the door is flung open, and the station closes up, will the artiste also stop his career?
Whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing well, As an artist, you are in business to make money, SO BE READY TO SPEND MONEY TO PROMOTE YOUR SELF…
When you blow, you no go remember the station…
If I lie, ask how many stations play EFE songs before him enter BBNAIJA House, go ask Wetin happen after him blow.
