Media Practitioners in Plateau State have lauded the contribution of the outgoing Commander Operation Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. C. C. Okonkwo, especially for sustaining peace in the state since taking over in April 2020
The outgoing Commander Maj. Gen. Okonkwo, appreciated the media for the support accorded to Operation Safe Haven in carrying out its core mandate of restoring peace to the troubled Joint Operation Areas comprising of Plateau State, parts of Bauchi and Southern Kaduna state.
He urged the media to accord his successor the needed support to succeed. Further assuring that his successor is a competent Military General, with exceptional leadership qualities.
Media practitioners in their separate remarks, commended the efforts of Gen. Okonkwo in restoring peace and clamping down on criminal elements in the State with the restoration of relative peace within the Operation Safe Haven Joint Operation Areas.
They described him as a media friendly officer with so much dedication, humility and patriotism as such the state will greatly miss his uncommon qualities.
Maj. Gen. Okonkwo will now be replaced by Maj. Gen. D. C. Onyemulu as the new commander for operation safe haven in Plateau.
The deployment will see Maj. Gen. Okonkwo as head the Nigerian Army Welfare in Abuja.
