The Lamingo Golf Club is ready to host over 300 Golfers across the country for the 2020 edition of the Governor’s Cup ” Pro-Amature Golf Tournament” scheduled to Tee-off at the Lamingo Golf Course in Jos the Plateau state Capital from Tuesday 8th to Sunday 13th December 2020.
Speaking to newsmen in Jos, Secretary of the Lamingo Golf Club, Mr. Nathaniel Lagan, said he was delighted to announce that all has been put in place to host golfers from different part of the country for the Pro-Amature Golf Tournament which he noted gathered well up to 300 golfers last year with a far more reaching turnout this year considering this year’s events was laced with bigger prizes for winners.
Mr. Lagan went on to thank the state Governor, Simon Bako Lalong who doubles as the Grand Patron of the Lamingo Golf Club for his overwhelming support for golfing in the state, himself being an active golfer.
Lagan said that the catch in this year’s Governor’s Cup Tournament is the introduction of the “Super Veterans” Category which will see golfers of 60 to 70 years old competing for prizes.
He noted that the course has also been tendered to prepare for the tournament despite the dry weather, with entry fee set at N7,000 to meet the present economic challenges faced as against that of last year with a Caddy fee of 2000 daily. He said the golf tournament was a booster to the state as it will assemble people from all over the country and open the state more to showcase its tourism potential. He said that the Lamingo Golf club is well prepared to make the event a hallmark and one that will make Plateau a proud host.
Further speaking Elder Sha Agwom Nyam, called for more support and for golf to be promoted as it also brings peace and unity. He said that a golf tournament is one of the pointers for promoting tourism in the home of peace and tourism as a game that cuts across age 10 to 90.
The Governor’s Cup ” Pro-Amature Golf Tournament” will Tee-off at the Lamingo Golf Course from Tuesday 8th and will see a continuous lineup of events and competition up until Sunday 13th December 2020, Starting at 7am Daily. The tournament will have the Pro and Cart-1 play from 8th to 11th December. Then the Cart II, III, IV and Ladies Cart-I will play form 12th and 13th with the Ladies Cart-II, Veterans and Super Veterans playing on 13th December.
