BARKIN Ladi town in Plateau State was thrown into joy last weekend following the installation of a new 15MVA 33/11KV power transformer.
After the installation, the transformer was subjected to test running to ascertain its functionality before it was inaugurated. The Managing Director/CEO of Jos Electricity Distribution PLC, Mr. Hashim Ibrahim Bakori, said the company obtained a new higher capacity MVA transformer following the persistent problem posed by the former 7.5 MVA transformer.
Hashim, an engineer, who was represented at the inauguration by the Chief Technical Officer, John Emeruwa, however, apologised to the people of Barkinladi and its environs for the power outage they experienced for some period. He said the company was ready to satisfy the service level commitments as enunciated by the 2020 Multi Year Tariff Order.
A statement by the Head, Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, said the faulty 7.5 MVA, 33/11KV transformer would be repaired and kept as a standby for usage in any part of the company’s franchise areas, in case of emergency.
