Plateau state is recording an unusual Easter celebration, today Sunday 12th April 2020 as the state hits day 3 of the total covid-19 lockdown.

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau directed total lockdown in the state
with effect from 12 midnight of Thursday April 9 to 11p.m of Wednesday,
April 15, 2020.

Lalong made the announcement in Jos during a news briefing stating that the lockdown was to enable government embark on fumigation in
Jos-Bukuru metropolis and all the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of
the state.

Further banning all movement during this period except for staff on essential duty, these include security agencies, medical and health workers, power
and energy staff, fire service, media, telecom operators and fuel
tankers,” he said.

Plateau State is yet to record any case of covid19 despite Nigeria recording up to 318 cases as at April 12th 2020. Governor Lalong being proactive to protect citizens in the state closed all boarders of the state and went on to declare a total lockdown which has now hindered any form of Easter celebration for Christians in the state.

Our team on assessment visit noticed total compliance with the lockdown as all worship houses were under locks with the streets of the greater Jos town all deserted.
