Mandyau esq, Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGC, has lauded the level of compliance to the lockdown order
imposed by the State Government.
Barr. Mandyau said though the Area recorded 12 defaulters who were
tried and penalized accordingly, the compliance index is commendable.
In an interview with Plateau Online Media Platform early on Friday, said the defaulters numbering 12 were coming from other Local
Government Areas and States but with the effort of the Taskforce in the
Area were arrested and tried by the mobile court in the locality.
Furthermore he said the Area achieved remarkable compliance because Traditional
Leaders, religious leaders and Leaders of groups were incorporated into
the Council COVID-19 Taskforce which made information dissemination to
the people easier and more effective.
He assured that the Council will not rest until full compliance is
achieved in days ahead as the mobile court in the Area is ensuring that
violators of the lockdown order are being penalized to serve as
deterrent to others.
He called on the people to continue to be law abiding, observe the
preventive measures and all government directives aimed at curbing
COVID-19.
He said measures are in place to ensure that farmers of perishable commercial farm produce do not suffer losses.
He thanked the security agencies and members of the Council’s
Taskforce for achieving remarkable compliance and said a lot need to be
done to attain full compliance.
Barr. Mandyau lauded the lockdown saying it is for public good
considering the devastating impact of the coronavirus and vowed to
domesticate the State Government directives to enhance safety and
prevention of COVID-19 which he described as “global tragedy”
He said a suspected case of someone who came in from Abuja with
symptoms was reported in the Area, but upon medical examination the
person was diagnosed of Tuberculosis though still in isolation to fulfil
the 14 days directed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
Issue of indiscriminate grazing on farmland in Foron District by
Herdsmen was reported to the Divisional Police Officer who said actions
will be taken to ensure the perpetuators will be penalized for violating
the lockdown order.
The Local Government Hqtrs, Gwol, Kassa District and Heipang were
seen complying fully to the lockdown order at appreciable level.
