Agricultural Services and Training Centre (ASTC) has expressed readiness to cover
the entire 17 Local governments in the state by Wednesday 15 April 2020.
The MD CEO of ASTC Dr Susan Bentushe made this known in an interview with Journalist during the
fumigation exercise in Riyom when she met the monitoring team. According
to her they are trying their best and they are using the best of
chemicals as most of their chemicals goes through the chemical pathology
to examine the right chemical combinations and the chemicals are not
harmful and the reason for the stay at home order is to ensure proper
work and get the environment clear to ease the exercise.
She also use the opportunity to call on various individuals to also
fumigate their own houses because government can not cover all the
houses so they should come to ASTC as is not only for agriculture that
ASTC is for they also fumigate houses and give technical support and
advice to various individuals and organization, she also said the
chemicals use for the fumigation can also take care of mosquitoes and
rodiats, and is safe for the environment and hazard free.
According to her they have been receiving various
complains over the fumigation exercise that the rain will wash it and
make it not to be effective, but she shared more light on it she said
the rain is not heavy to wash away the chemical according to her during
the flag off the rain is not that hard to affect the chemical
effectiveness so there is no cause for alarm as they are professionals
and experts handle the mixture of the chemical so when she her people
saying all such of thing she just listen.
Dr Susan said people also Complain that there is no
coronavirus in the State why the fumigation, the reason is simple
according to her preventive measures is very important the government
took the step to keep the state save from the virus and other
infections, and is the right step in the right direction by the way the
fumigation takes care of so many other things that will protect the
state for a safe environment.
