The Plateau State
Governor, Simon Lalong on Friday, officially flagged off the fumigation
exercise which is expected to take place in the 17 local government
while the state is observing a total lockdown for 7 days. Today Saturday 11th April, the
fumigation team from ASTC was in Bassa as the exercise continued.
With the official flag off of the fumigation exercise by the Plateau
State Government following the global outbreak of the coronavirus which
has killed over 100,000 persons and infected over 1.7 million people
globally, the Executive Chairman of Bassa LGA, Plateau State, Hon Chindo
Gona Girga has lauded the fumigation exercise.
The Council Boss lauded the gesture by the State Governor saying it
shows his commitment to enhanced public health and safer society. He
appreciated the Governor for extending the fumigation to his people. Hon. Chindo made these known when he received the delegation who were in Bassa LGA for fumigation.
Stating that the people of the Local Government Area are fully
complying with the lockdown directive as the Area was able to
attain 99% compliance because religious leaders, traditional leaders,
elites, youth groups and association leaders were carried along and
involved in the awareness campaign and information dissemination on the
lockdown.
Furthermore he commended personnel of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria and
Neighbourhood Watch for the role they are playing to enforce compliance
of the total lockdown in the entire community.
