The Police in Central Nigeria are investigating the death of a female student of the University of Jos, Miss Mercy Naan. Miss Naan, 23 was Sunday found dead in a room in Naraguta hostel of the university, authorities say. Plateau State Police Spokesperson, Mr. Tyopev Terna said in a statement that the deceased was declared missing by her parents on Friday.
The lifeless body of the 200 Level Marketing student according to Terna was discovered after some students raised alarm on a strange odour oozing from the room it was found in. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Sebastian Maimako was Sunday thrown into mourning as his son, Mr. Shitnaan Maimako reportedly committed suicide.
Mr. Maimako was said to have consumed an insecticide a few hours after a female student of the university, Miss Mercy Naan was found dead in a hostel room. Some sources in the university claim the 19-year-old took his life in reaction to the death of the female student whom he was said to be dating.
Others, however, believe he may have committed the act under the influence of hard drugs Officials and family relations had yet to comment on the incident as of the time of publishing this report.
