The Armed Forces of Nigeria have fought on land, any form of invasion
by terrorists. With no eair and sea, with bravery confronting the
enemies in battle. They put themselves in harm’s way to defend our
country against criminals whose mission is to destroy everything our
nation represents.

 They have recovered territories captured by
insurgents. Many captives are set free, returning to their native land
on daily basis. They also keep continuous watch over them to prevent and
to hostilities in sight, they are surrounded in continuous daily
fighting. They stand by their pledge to keep the territorial integrity
of our dear nation and her people. The Armed Forces of Nigeria are
heroes, they would rather die fighting than to let the nation down.

They also fight to preserve the economy of the nation by preventing
militants from carrying out their heinous act through kidnapping and
Pipeline vandalism.

Bandits on rampage are neutralised on regular basis they are
prevented from causing more havoc in communities all around the country.

They miss holidays, and other big moments in the lives of their
family members. Though we will never be able to fully repay their
efforts, but it’s our responsibility to try. The dedication displayed by
these individuals is unparalleled. We are blessed to have these brave
men fighting to keep our homeland safe.

In the face of war, They are strong, brave to face what lies ahead.
They are our brothers, friends, sisters and children. They are fathers
and mothers too, they deserve our love, respect and appreciation. Their
families pray daily hoping to see their loved ones again. Some make it
back while others don’t. They deserve more than we give, they deserve
our honour.

Just a few weeks ago the nation mourned a young pilot who fell to the
cold hands of death while in battle. Mrs Perowei Jacobs became a widow
only 3 weeks after marriage. He is one of the many soldiers who paid the
supreme price to keep us safe. What sacrifice are you making for
Nigeria?

Our brave men sacrifice their health, safety and comfort to keep you
and I safe, losing their lives in pursuit of peace which we all enjoy
and often take for granted.

In some parts of the western world, On commercial flights, members of
the armed forces and veterans irrespective of their rank are called on
board before other passengers and appreciated while everyone around clap
their hands in appreciation of their service to their nation.

Some shops including restaurant give discounts and rebates on purchases and tickets respectively as a way of appreciating them..

Different days and events are set aside for these honourable men for
all the go through to keep their nation together. to mention a few:

  • Memorial Day: A day of remembrance for those who have died in service for the nation.
  • Armed Forces Day: A time set aside to pay tribute to the military personnel who currently serve in the nation’s Armed Forces.
  • Military Spouse Appreciation Day: A time to thank military spouses
    for being the backbone of the families who support the troops.
  • Victory in Europe Day: Commemorating the end of the World War II.
