The Elders, officials and executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Vandeikya Local Government Council of Benue State yesterday threw their weight behind Rt. Hon Mrs Dorothy Mato (the member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State) for her primary election to the same office on Oct. 3, 2018.
Prior to meeting with Elders, APC Excos in Vandeikya, Hon Mato had met with those in Konshisha Local Government Council of Benue State who also assured her of their unswerving support in the primaries, 2019 election and beyond.
The Chairman of APC in Vandeikya, Alhaji Abubakar Aseer Ihongo said at the consultation meeting in Vandeikya organized by Hon Mato that based on the issues that had negatively affected the party in the past, APC at all levels will only support candidates that have proven track records so that they can make the desired impact on those they lead and represent respectively.
Rep Mato said she among a few people in the past struggled to build the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Vandeikya that has now become APC which is the ruling party in Nigeria and would not want the party to be destroyed by those who do not have the people at heart.
According to her, if she will be given the ticket to run for the election next year, she will make them proud if elected by making potent impact on her constituents.
She urged all the APC ward Chairmen and other delegates to continue to give her their unswerving support not just for the primaries but in the forth coming election and beyond.
All the APC ward Chairmen and their respective excos said Hon Mato has nothing to worry about her primary election. They assured her of their unswerving support for being a leader who has shown them love by always taking their issues as top priorities even in the presence of enormous challenges.
Mrs Mato appreciated them for assuring her of their support and promised to Always stand by them.
In a separate meeting with Vandeikya elders, the Chairman of Vandeikya elders, Igyo Yaweh appreciated Hon Mato for the love she has shown to them and for organising the meeting. He said she has nothing to be afraid of as they will never leave her on the way in this journey they started together.
Some of the elders who spoke at the meeting said they can not support anyone else for that office than Hon Mato because of her track records right from when she was a member of Benue State House of Assembly for Kyan Constituency on the platform of the defunct ACN.
Rep Mato was overwhelmed by the unswerving support the elders showed and assured them that if she fails to deliver if given the ticket and elected, they should never take her seriously again.
